Carrying Over Momentum
How do you start your day?
What time do you start working in the morning?
I’ve always been someone who wants to take my time getting up, exercise, shower, make coffee and breakfast, then sit down and start working. By the time that all happens it’s usually 10am.
But I’ve noticed something about successful people. Or rather, people who are so consumed by some business or project they are working on because it’s going to take them to the next level, to a place of achieving their goals.
They wake up, and instead of entering some fancy morning routine of skincare and water and coffee and cleaning off their desk and watering their flowers… they roll out of bed, sit down at their desk, and continue exactly where they left off at 11:48pm the night before.
Now I’m not saying things that are typically included in a “morning routine” aren’t important, but when you’re obsessed with success… the first thing that you want to do when you wake up is keep working toward that success.
Over the past 2 days I’ve been reconceptualizing two of my businesses and making concrete strategies for scaling and growing them. What I described above is what I felt this morning. I worked all evening and into the night last night on creating assets and content for one of these businesses, went to sleep, then woke up this morning, opened up my laptop, and kept working - no coffee or anything.
I think something important with this idea is momentum. People like to talk about motivation… but motivation is pretty garbage. It’s basically a bandaid. If you have to “get motivated” to do something, then you do not want that thing. But if you have momentum… that’s unstoppable.
